Respect other people

Do not harass, threaten, stalk, shame, or target people. Do not use hateful content or slurs against people based on protected characteristics. Do not encourage violence or self-harm.

Keep profiles appropriate

Do not use sexual or pornographic content, graphic violence, or content that sexualizes minors. Do not place another person's private information in a username, status, picture, banner, or linked profile without permission.

Be authentic

Do not impersonate another person, staff member, organization, or official Cocoon account. Parody must be clear. Do not use misleading names or images to deceive other users.

No spam or abuse

Do not send repeated unwanted friend requests, create accounts to evade blocks or restrictions, automate interactions in a disruptive way, promote scams, or attempt to exploit Hive or another user's account.

Reports and blocks

Use Report on a profile to tell Cocoon about a violation. Choose the affected profile field and include enough detail for staff to review it. Reports are confidential. Do not submit false or coordinated reports to target another person.

Blocking removes your friendship and prevents either account from viewing the other's Hive profile or sending a new friend request. You can manage blocked users in Privacy settings. If there is an immediate risk of harm, contact the appropriate local emergency service.

How decisions are made

Cocoon considers the content, context, severity, past violations, and risk to other users. Actions can include content removal, a required username change, a warning, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban. Staff actions are recorded in a restricted audit trail.

A suspended or banned user can submit an appeal from the account-status page. Appeals are reviewed by staff and the outcome is shown on the account. An appeal is not a way to repeat abusive content or contact another user who has blocked you.
