Hive Terms of Service

These terms apply to Cocoon accounts and the Hive social service in Cocoon Shell.

Last updated 10 September 2026

Who provides Hive

Cocoon owns and operates Cocoon Shell and Hive. You can contact us at support@cocoon-shell.com.

Using Hive

You must be at least 13 years old and old enough to consent to using an online service in your country. If the law requires permission from a parent or guardian, you must have it. You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in methods secure.

You are responsible for activity performed through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed it. One person must not use multiple accounts to evade a restriction or manipulate Hive features.

Your content

You keep ownership of profile pictures, banners, profile text, and other content you add. You give Cocoon a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, process, resize, display, and transmit that content only as needed to operate and improve Hive. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for limited copies retained in backups or safety records.

You must have the right to upload your content. Do not upload content that violates the rights of another person or the Community Guidelines.

Service rules

Do not misuse Hive, interfere with its operation, access data you are not authorized to access, automate abusive requests, probe security controls without permission, distribute malware, impersonate another person, or use Hive for unlawful activity. The Community Guidelines form part of these terms.

Moderation

Cocoon may remove profile content, require a username change, warn an account, suspend access, or ban an account when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect users, secure Hive, or comply with law. We consider context and severity when making a decision.

If your account is suspended or banned, Hive will show the reason and let you submit one open appeal. Serious or repeated violations may lead to immediate permanent action. Blocking another user does not prevent Cocoon from preserving information needed for a report or safety investigation.

Availability and changes

Hive is provided as available. Features may change, pause, or end, including integrations operated by third parties. We aim to protect user data and provide reasonable notice of a material change where practical, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service.

Closing an account

You can delete your Cocoon account in Account settings. Cocoon may close an inactive or restricted account where allowed by law and after any notice that is reasonably required. Terms that must remain effective to resolve a dispute, protect users, or enforce rights continue after an account closes.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, Cocoon is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, third-party services, or loss caused by your breach of these terms. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Hive changes. We will publish the new version here and provide additional notice where a material change requires it. Continuing to use Hive after the new terms take effect means the updated terms apply.
